THE FIRST YEAR PLAYER DRAFT
​
​The annual 3-round First Year Player Draft is scheduled for February 1. Only those players who were drafted or were eligible for the 2025 MLB FYPD draft as well as International Players who are eligible for the 2026 signing period may be selected.

​​​​​​The deadline for submitting trades (for approval) prior to the First Year Player Draft is midnight Wednesday, January 14.
​​
​Owners who have engaged in trading since Roster Adjustment reports were posted must also monitor their roster to ensure that it is in compliance with the rules regarding roster composition: at no time may a 32-man roster consist of more than 20 hitters or 20 pitchers.
​​
​​The deadline for submitting FYPD forms is Monday, January 19. At this time all teams must also report any necessary releases to bring their 32-man roster into compliance.

​
​The most successful owners in FullSlate keep their eyes on the prospects. From the MLB's FYPD and J2 signings, they place a respectable value on players who will impact their teams and keep them in contention year after year.

​Baseball America's Draft Database for MLB's 2025 First Year Player Draft is a good place to start. While the 2025 did not have the impact players - as the did the 2024 draft - none were immediate Top 10 - there were still some highly valued players.
​
​MLB.com's International Prospect list is their take on the Top 50 players eligible for the J2 signing period that runs from January 15 to December 15 , 2026.
OFF SEASON TRADES
​​​​​
Trading may resume on February 2, following the posting of the FYPD reports. Another trading halt will be implemented on February 18 prior to the CBD and will not resume until March 23.
​
Trade proposals must be submitted ​by both owners on the same day to be considered. Rulings on trades will be posted within 2 business days.
A new regulation is now in force: An owner may submit only 1 proposal per league and may not submit another until the current trade is confirmed or denied.

In some cases where owners have had past issues with their rosters, FullSlate may require a complete lineup in order verify accuracy. Also, failure to submit an accurate lineup may result in suspension of trading privileges!

Abandoned Franchises: We lost 2 owners for 2026 - Mel Nehrkorn and James Lipsey. Together, they combined for 11 teams, hence the unusually large number of abandoned teams.
